‘Gadgets’ just performed at the KeoChang International Festival of Theatre in South Korea and then I went onto Edinburgh for two weeks to work with Circus OZ. It was an excellent time and now it’s great to be back home renovating before heading over to Portugal for a few festivals. Then in January I will be working with Teatro Zinzanni in San Francisco until May. It’s all very excellent!

“The irrepressible Joel Salom is an outstanding all-round comic, whether as a skillfully inept acrobat or artfully off-colour juggler. Popping ping pong balls out of his mouth (with references to the whole digestive system), flinging clubs impossibly fast.. playing electronic percussion with bounced balls and executing a hilarious reversal on the old dropped-pants shtick. He’s also the genius behind the show’s other stand-up comic, a blithely satiric little robot dog named Erik.”

Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle.

Gadgets

cropped new gadgets

This show has taken me places I have always wanted to go - dark places, exciting places, stupid places. Gadgets is a high energy show band as much as a theatre show, it’s so funny that people say it’s the best thing they’ve ever seen, which is all relative I know, some people need to get out more.

The music is an unpredictable mix of electronic pop, classical, death metal and jazz fused with gypsy swing. Marko plays a multitude of sounds from his midi keyboard, piano accordian and loop pedal with Jim on drum kit, guitar, acoustic bells and whistles. So, couple that with all of my tricky bits and shit happens, good shit.
